VICE PRIME MINISTER – MS. KETURAH AMOAKO OF THE STATE OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA – MEETING IN TANZANIA

Dodoma, Tanzania – 14 January, 2020

On 14 January 2020, Vice Prime Minister, Ms Keturah Amoako attended the Office of Diaspora Affairs in Dodoma, Tanzania, the new Governmental Regional Sector.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the EAC bloc of The State of the African Diaspora – Mr Bernard Msweka.

The discussions centred around awareness to the socio-economic viability and potentiality of the African Diaspora which was presently not accounted for within their plans of engagement with their migrant Tanzanian diaspora.

Vice Prime Minister, Keturah Amoako presented several proposals which centred around:

1. Intellectual Tourism – (Edu-Tourism);

2. Transport and the East Africa Corridor;

3. Repatriation; and

4. Restitution of Cultural Artifacts stolen from Tanzania.

The meeting ended on a positive note with a follow up communication to be made with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The mission of the State of the African Diaspora and the 6th Region Economic Community is to connect Africa with its Diaspora and the Diaspora to Africa, as well as connecting the Diaspora to the Diaspora internationally. The mission further extends to being a key participant in the African Continental Free Trade Area.
